Signs your clutch needs replacing

If you’ve experienced any of the following it’s likely your clutch is failing and will need replacing soon:

• The engine revs climb but the car doesn’t pick up speed (a slipping clutch)
• The biting point has crept higher and higher up the pedal
• Gears are difficult to engage, or crunch going in
• A burning smell when pulling away or towing
• Judder or rattle when you use the pedal

If you ignore the warning signs the clutch can fail completely and leave you stranded at the roadside, so if you notice any of the above warnings it’s time to get your clutch changed.
